Didactic Seminars

The further development and improvement of teaching is an essential goal of the Montanuniversität Leoben.

In order to achieve this, internal lecturers are offered the following seminars. In order to be able to do teaching, the successful participation in one of the listed seminars is sufficient.

The following contents are covered

  •  Planning effective courses and lessons, Constructive Alignment, learning taxonomies, creating a climate conductive to learn, interaction with students, Flipped Classroom, Open Educational Resources, reflecting on the role as a lecturer, basic learning theories, enhancing critical thinking, methods of active learning, metacognition and self-regulated learning, interactive online meetings, virtual learning environments, basic functions and activities on Moodle, using collaborative online tools for it.
  • Participants can expericne a rang of methods of active learning to enhance critical thinking, try out several collaborative online tools and reflect on a meta-level on their application in their own teaching.
  • Participants are expected to complete short activities between the sessions, write a reflection, and create a learning scenario on Moodle.

 

 

Information: Attendance: min. 75%

  • Motivating learning scenarios (self-determination theory, ARCS model), Problem-based learning, scaffolding (Cognitive load theory), self-regulated learning, criteria for successful cooperative learning, diversity as an opportunity, formative and summative assessment, portfokios and alternative methods of assessment, designing (MC) exam questions, written and oral exams, using rubrics for fair and transparent grading, advanced features and activities on Moodle.
  • Participants are expected to complete short activities between the sessions, take part in a peer feedback activity on Moodle as well as design and present a problem solving assignment.

  • It is recommended to attend "Teaching and Learning STEM I" first.
